Tim Aaron is a Composer/Musician who's wide variety of musical influences began to take hold as a young kid in Washington D.C., when he would crawl out his window each week to see a triple feature playing on the corner; The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Neil Young's Rust Never Sleeps, and David Lynch's Eraserhead. He recalls the sounds blasting through the streets from 70's boom boxes, while walking to his see his first band, the debut of the Bad Brains. He was witnessing the simultaneous birth of American hip hop and punk rock. As a result, Tim recorded a 1981 hip hop track (Bam, Boo, D, Wak), prior to what is considered to be the first release in that genre by Grand Master Flash. He then attended high school in VT., traveling often to see live shows featuring still performing artists from the 60’s and 70’s, especially psychedelic and blues acts, returning between semesters to his home in N.Y.C. to experience an explosion of newer bands.
In college he majored in film and minored in music studying with jazz/classical/experimental legends Yusef Lateef, Bill Harris, & Eugene Chadbourne. He then formed alternative bands, including Gobblehoof (SST Records with J Mascis on Drums), that amongst others opened for acts such as Nirvana, Marilyn Manson, Green Day, Dinosaur Jr.. Tim has performed tours in the U.S. and Europe as both a guitarist and bassist.
Over time, Tim began building a resume of side work from film & tv, deciding to switch his career focus to music writing in 2005. He was most recently hired as the series composer for The Andy Milonakis Show (MTV), Saul Of the Mole Men (Adult Swim) and just finished work on A Young Person’s Guide To History (Adult Swim) [Nov. 2008].
Tim has a passion for live performance in his spare time; playing with Flea and Zander Schloss, at a benefit concert in Hollywood for Strummerville, opening several shows for The Jesus Lizard including the Metro theater in Chicago Nov 27th 2009 with his band Model/Actress and is currently recording in Kate Crash with producer Nick Launay. Tim will be releasing a record he made with guitarist Matt Sweeney (Neil Diamond, Johnny Cash) next year on Ecstatic Peace, the label of Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth).
